The board of Assicurazioni Generali confirmed Gabriele Galateri di Genola as chairman at its shareholders meeting on Saturday.
Galateri was appointed chairman of the Italy-based insurer last spring after Cesare Geronzi's exit, but his mandate expired in April.
Along with confirming Galateri's appointment as chairman, the board confirmed his chairmanship of the Appointments & Corporate Governance Committee and the Social & Environmental Sustainability Committee.
The board also ascertained that the chairman met the conditions of professionalism, good standing and independence required under current legislation for the insurance sector, and, given Galateri's position as a key officer of the company, the non-existence of the independence requirement pursuant to article 3 of the Self-Regulatory Code of Listed Companies.
