Wholesale reinsurance brokerage Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford has promoted Shaun Hooper to the new role of chief commercial officer.
Hooper, pictured, joined CGSC in July 2009 as head of group operations and was appointed chief executive officer of Cooper Gay, CGSC's Lloyd's and London market broker, in early 2011.
Hooper will now take on a wider role for CGSC, taking the lead on the commercial development of its global operations, and will report directly to CGSC chief executive officer Toby Esser.
Sam Hovey has been appointed CEO of Cooper Gay in succession to Hooper, subject to regulatory approval.
Hovey was appointed CFO of Cooper Gay in January 2010. She held a number of finance roles in the London broking market prior to joining Cooper Gay in 2008, including positions at HSBC Insurance Brokers and Rattner Mackenzie, formerly part of the HCC Group.
Esser said: "Shaun has proven his excellent strategic management abilities whilst CEO of Cooper Gay during a particularly challenging period. He will now be able to deploy those same skills in developing the CGSC's international businesses.
"I am also delighted that we have been able to appoint a new CEO for Cooper Gay internally. Since joining us in 2008, Sam has shown both the financial acumen and management skills to lead the continued development of our London business.
"The senior management team looks forward to working with her in her new role to drive profitable growth."
